Quote of the Week: “The Pen That Writes Your Life Story Must Be In Your Own Hand.” ~ Irene C. Kassorla

Ever feel like life is passing you notes you didn’t ask for? One day it says, “Go to college, get married, and do life the way you’re supposed to.” Next, “Catch up to everyone else.” Then suddenly, “Don’t forget to be everything to everyone else.” It’s almost like everyone else has a pen in hand, scribbling all over your story before you even realize what chapter you’re in.

But here’s the thing: the pen that writes your life story belongs in your hand. Not your boss’s, not your parents’, not even your best friend’s who means well but keeps suggesting you “just try yoga and see if it changes your life.” (Spoiler: sometimes it does, sometimes it just makes your hamstrings cry.)

Taking back your pen doesn’t have to mean rewriting the whole book overnight. It can be as simple as setting one boundary, saying yes to something that excites you, or finally deciding that cereal absolutely counts as dinner. Each small choice is a line in your story, and over time, those lines add up to chapters that actually sound like you.

So, grab your pen. Scribble boldly, cross things out, doodle in the margins if you want. It’s your story—make it one worth re-reading.
